MediCruiser International
Canada’s first response to the G8 Summit Mandate
Helping to reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality

MediCruiser International (MCI) is a new Canadian not for profit organization that is building capacity from the ground up. MCI works in remote, socially isolated areas and for disaster relief, worldwide.

MCI is mobilizing the global community into action by inviting partnerships with government, industry, communities and charitable organizations to work together to address maternal, newborn and child health concerns. Canada has the solution. Timely, affordable, pre-tested and highly efficient.
MCI delivers SUSTAINABLE health care.

According to the World Health Organization, each year more than 500,000 women die during pregnancy or childbirth. Several million more will become injured or disabled. Infectious diseases, hemorrhaging, eclampsia, unsafe abortions, breached or obstructed labour account for many of these deaths. An estimated 9 million children will die before the age of five.

80 per cent of these deaths are entirely preventable,
the causes treatable.

Maternal, newborn and child health became a flagship initiative at the June 2010, G8 Summit. “Building capacity in primary health care is the key to dramatically reduce maternal and infant mortality and improve the health of entire populations. This involves providing access to trained health care workers, basic medical supplies, clean water, power, diagnostics, and a full array of contraceptive options,” said Dr. Martin. Excerpt from How Canada Can Reduce Maternal Mortality at the G8 Summit, Action Canada for Population and Development report 2010
